“Ah - Margaret River you’ve done it again - another brilliant wine - the Miles From Nowhere ‘BEST BLOCKS’ 2020 chardonnay. Divine toasty, buttery aromas on the bouquet accompanying fresh peaches. Smashingly tasty palate with superb balance between crisp acidity and creaminess making it a JOY TO BEHOLD - and it will evolve even further over the next few years. TOTALLY BRILLIANT!!”

Best Blocks Shiraz 2019

“On the palate, I loved the intensity of this wine. The fruit flavours were ripe and balanced beautifully with some savoury notes and soft structure. I thought the wine was simply delicious to sip on, and it had a great length. It ticked all the boxes and really hit the spot!”

Best Blocks Chardonnay 2020

“A Margaret River chardonnay for $25? Got to be kidding, right? And did I mention it’s one smart wine, well made, that fills the mouth with plenty of Marg’s luscious summer stone fruits? Nectarine, white peach, melon and citrus are the wine’s fresh and lively signature. Fruit is ripe, the palate is bright aided in large part by brisk acidity and oak is settled in the background providing a warm, textural quality.”

“Displays many of the appealing varietal characteristics of chardonnay. The aromas have a crunchy quince-like influence through the nectarine and zippy citrus. The palate has a creamy lemon curd and brioche richness that finishes with a slightly savoury character. ”

Best Blocks Chardonnay 2020

“On the nose, I got some really beautiful notes of peach, apricot and nectarine along with a nice note of fresh citrus. From the oak fermentation, I also got toasty and nutty notes from the oak fermentation. These flavours continued into the palate where there was a good hit of nectarine and apricot. But the beautiful integration of oak was what really got me. Hazelnut and nougat along with a hint of toasted bread came through in the finish. The wine was oh so creamy and rich - what a taste sensation!”

“An elegantly structured shiraz displaying the poise and beauty of a cooler season. A mix of dark plummy and lighter blue fruits on the nose with a combination of cocoa and chocolate balanced with dried herbs showing a thyme and rosemary factor. Grainy and slightly gravelly tannins.” ”

Best Blocks Shiraz 2019

“Miles From Nowhere is the new brand from industry veteran Franklin Tate, formally Evans & Tate. This Margaret River Shiraz is quite Rhone in style, perhaps no surprise with French winemaker Frederique Perrin (ex-Cape Mentelle) at the helm. Think mixed red berry fruits, classy French oak and smidge of black pepper. Stylish with a bit of ripe swagger. Look for it on special at Dan Murphy’s stores.”

“Food match: The ripe, rounded stonefruit and creamy almond & vanilla tones would harmonise perfectly with creamy lemon chicken.

Music match: Island in the Sun by Weezer

Occasion match: It’s the weekend, you’re on holiday sitting in the sun with some friends, it’s almost summer and life feels easy”

“A precise and slightly sinewy cabernet reflecting the cool 2019 vintage. Bay leaf and black olive nuances on the nose with a little swipe of brick dust. The palate is sinewy and linear with a tight pack of oak, tannin and fruit. Still tight and will evolve in the medium term. ”
