Malbec 2020

Unfortunately there are very few of us that get the opportunity to travel the world every other weekend. For most of us, it can be a long time between making it to the mountains of Medoza and tasting the exquisite flavours of an Argentinian Malbec. So we will do you one better, a Magaret River Malbec.

Tasting Notes

Wine Making Notes

Our Malbec is grown only on one of our vineyards, in the Osmington locality of Margaret River, which is a bit inland and to the north-west of Margaret River township. Half of the block is mature and spur pruned, planted in 1999, while the other half is very young, planted in 2018, cane pruned and not yet productive. The area is late ripening with cool nights, even in the summer months, that preserve bright crunchy fruit aromas.

This Malbec was harvested in March 2020 after an early growing season with near perfect ripening conditions. The fruit appeared slighter riper and a bit more savoury than it had in 2019.

The Malbec was gently destemmed then fermented on skins over 14 days, prior to pressing to French oak, to undergo malolactic fermentation and maturation for 12 months. The batch is lightly filtered before bottling.
