We love the Margaret River region; sometimes dusty, sometimes lush, but beautifully isolated, it allows us to focus on crafting wines that capture the soul of the ‘terroirs’ and the varietals that come alive here.
Our name Miles from Nowhere not only alludes to the geographic remoteness of the vineyard, but also in recognition of our forebears who arrived in Australia some 100 years ago from Ukraine, bewildered by what they were confronted with in their new home country, and feeling every bit Miles from Nowhere.
Franklin & Heather Tate turned their attention to their favourite vineyard in 2001. Eager to capture the unique and truly special terroir of Margaret River, they were convinced that their Miamup Vineyard was the perfect place to make it happen.
They say you never get a second chance to do something you love but Miles from Nowhere is just that – a renaissance of exciting wines from Heather and Franklin’s premium vineyards.
Our Winemaker – Rory Clifton-Parks
Wine is made by the award winning, young and talented Rory Clifton-Parks. As Director of Winemaking, Rory brings his Agricutural and Oneology Degrees into practice, leading the Miles from Nowhere winemaking team with knowledge and experience.
The focus of the winery is to produce serious wine in a serious package, whilst imbuing a sense of enjoyment, irreverence and relaxation to the experience – and at the heart of it.
Miles from Nowhere believe in letting time stand still… just long enough to enjoy a great wine with friends, but also to allow the best varietals of this world-class Margaret River region express themselves.
